Proper winch set up

Real sailors know that port winches are to be turned counter clockwise and
starboard winches are to be turned clockwise.

Are your winches set up that way?

Do you know why it is so and where this originates?

I can assure you Alien and Ghost are set up properly.

Nutsy,

I'm not saying your wrong about the sheet winchers but I wouldn't have a
counter operating winch on my boat.

I want every winch to operate the same.

I think having one winch different from the rest is foolish and even
dangerous.

Be honest, at least for this question; how many times have the sheets
been layed on wrong on both winches because one of them is different?

Hey Thom

You fell for the old "forged" post from the prankster. Besides,
everyone knows that the winches on Bob's boat are rarely used. The
wenches on Bob's boat, on the other hand...:)

My winches do operate the same.

You thread the line on the outboard side of the winch.

It's a symettry thing.

Nutsy,

You suckered me in on this one. How do I look with a hook hanging out my
mouth.

Shame on you, picking on an old man. It is a good exercise to remind me
to think before replying to your "Come-ons."
