That's a stupid question. As much as you can get, until you run out of optical
quality. You can never tell where the picture really is - more pixels gives you
more opportunities.


A longer Zoom retains full resolution with less
cropping.

I'd rather have the same possibilities with "digital zoom," framed after the
fact. Its pretty clear you're just a snapshot shooter, so you probably made the
right choice.
