VANISHED (stolen?)- a new (and unique) 57' Beneteau

FYI, sadly: The Sailnet Beneteau and Catalina Lists have been abuzz
with perplexed postings from and consoling advice to the owner of a
brand new Beneteau 57, the only one so far delivered in the U.S., just
purchased last week, and which, during commissioning, vanished from
the dealer's dock [sic!].

It is said that the Coast Guard, the insurer, and other police
agenies, and marinas have been alerted and are of course looking but
so far to no avail.

For more besides the cited List postings, see

Anyone heard from Neal recently?

Wasn't his last post about eating more steak? Maybe he got a good deal on
recalled beef.

The poor think probably just cracked in half and sank.

tHATS MOST LIKELY WHAT HAPPENED. tHERE a 35 footer here in the
shipyard that they have been trying to glue back on the keel for a
week now. It funny they have a big fan blowing hot water heaters
pumping and clamps clamping trying to dry the elmers glue. Only thing
that looks like quality on the whole boat is that steel bulbed partly
finned keel. Look like a serious mess!
