Because that was the ship's next port of call. The rescued men probably
thought airfare home from Mobile was cheaper than chartering a tanker to
take them home.

It seems like a long ride from just east of Jacksonville all the way around
Florida, back up the gulf to Mobile.

I would have contacted Capt Neal. he could have sailed out from the swamp he
lives in, taken the men off the Stolt Tenacity and had them home in no time.
And he has a super special license of some sort, doesn't he?

It is entirely possible that Nil made that trip. The names don't match
but nothing much about Nil matches reality anyway.

The rest of the operation certainly sounds like a Nil show, the sails
wouldn't work, couldn't figure out how to tack, underpowered outboard,
rigging fell off, dead battery ... it goes along with the water pipe
boom repair doesn't it?

Thats most likely were the ship was headed.

Should they of brought them back to Cape Coral?

Besides I do not think the channel is deep enough there.

Picked up a couple guys in a liferaft, once in the GOM... they were
bound from Mexico to Key West .... They ended up getting there Via
Panama, which was our next port of call ... no requirement to take to
the nearest or best port of their convenience if they are healthy.

was Nil when this happened?"

Too bad the article didn't tell what color the boat was.
