As Promised...What I got for Xmas!!!

Well....Here's what I got for Christmas!!!

Sony Cybershot U30 mini digital camera. This is simply amazingly small and
takes really good pics, though no match for my other gift from Suzanne, a
Minolta Z1!!! I'm selling the G2 now on Ebay since the Z1 is that much more
useable with it's 10X Zoom and HQ video mode. The tiny sony will be the "boat
camera."
Extra memory and cases for the above cameras.
A copy of And the Sea Will Tell in paperback
A lot of Bed Bath and Beyond gifts cards (for Suzanne and I)
A lot of circuit city gift cards
Two heavy sweatshirts that say "Still Plays with Boats!"
New headphones for my cell phone
A 100.00 gift card to West Marine!
9K from my father, which was odd given the fact that we're all paid up. It will
go into our "next boat" fund.
Quite a few DVDs.
One light sailing jacket
A new 17 inch Sony flat screen monitor!
A really nice ice scraper for the Outback!
And a bunch of other items I can't remember.

We spent Xmas day with close friends, cooking up two chickens and ham. Everyone
brought a dish and we cracked open some good wine. Saturday we drove to PA to
dine with my folks....A great holiday was had by all!!!
Hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.

You paid less than free?
Fuji digital cameras trail the pack.
Canon, Minolta, OIympus and Nikon are among the better consumer/prosumer units.
Sony is also okay for lower cost units.

Yea, that's why Sony is the only manufacture to give the customer a Carl
Zeiss lens on step up models. Oh, and by the way Sony just introduced an 8
mega pixel camera. When is Fuji's comming?
Digital cameras .......... just another thing the dimwit Boob knows nothing

Strange, my digital Hasselblad has a Zeisss lens. I can name several more
digital camera that have Zeiss lens. Seems like Sony is not exclusive on
this.

Fuji has 12 megapixel/picture storage. Does Sony?

Fuji's interleaving format has higher efficiency compression algorithms than
Sony's.

10 glass elements in 7 groups (includes two elements with three aspheric
surfaces)

Now that you look foolish, I deliver the final kick to your block-head. Fuji's
electronics and AF system lags. In addition, the Fugi takes longer to power up
and takes 1.5 seconds shot to shot, while the Z1 powers up faster and can
manage just under 1 second shot to shot. Both cameras have good optics with the
edge to the fuji. I actually like the S7000, but it's AF system proved
unreliable...much like Canon G1 and Olympus C50. No thanks.
The Z1 is so usable I'm selling the G2 on Ebay right now. The Z1's "fastest"
auto focus means it takes more usable shots than many other better cameras.
I'll be picking up the next gen of the canon rebel next.

Slap a Zeiss lens on so-so camera and you get a so-so camera with a good lens.
Cameras from Olympus, Minolta and Canon are more capable. BUT, until I used the
Z1, few digitals had a better AF system than the higher end Sony units.
Side by side with my Canon G2, the Sony DSC-F828 did not measure up until we
took the units down to manual. Of course a good 7X lens will have a tough time
beating a good 3X lens and canon optics are excellent.
Loco is as dumb about cameras as he is about boats. He thinks the only
important part of a camera is the lens! Just like he thinks the only important
part of a boat is it's PHRF rating!

I've got a disposable camera. Much cheaper, and if it falls

At the cost of achromatic aberrations, which you don't know, are corrected
by a pre-stressed plastic lens.

Only in the wrong mode setting do you get AF problems (it doesn't focus).

Even the finest lens systems fall victim to AA. They are a defining quality
factor for refractors and binoculars, but not much of an issue for consumer
level digital cameras.
You've clearly shown everyone what an idiot you are.
