Nah. What it is, is removal of anonymity for sperm donors from now on.
Lot harder to have a handful of unknown kids turn up on your doorstep
if you're a long way overseas. Gonna be interesting to see how this bit
of social engineering pans out. I can see both POV's but if the donor
isn't happy about the conditions and there aren't enough, the argument
that kids are entitled to be able to find out who their genetic parents
are will be moot.

Add to that Australia has draconian child support laws and the only
exception for genetic fathers now is for AID. If a one night stand
results in a pregnancy, you pay for the next 18 years, minimum, no
option. Who knows if the law will change again? Wasn't an issue when
AID was essentially for couples where the guy was infertile, now single
women use it to have a kid. I don't have a problem with this, one of my
gay woman friends is doing it, but you can see the potential for
arguing when a Govt wants to minimise paying child support for single
mothers.
