On this day in 1941 - Admiral Ernest J. King designated
Commander-in-Chief, United States Fleet in charge of all operating naval fleets and coastal frontier forces, reporting directly to the President. I mean..... you did meet the Bull and all. So this guys just another swabbie you might ah ran into huh?. Reason I ask is you never here much about him in general. Joe |

No Joe,
I never met Adm. King. I did met Nimitz, Halsey, Kincaid, McCain. I met them but never on a buddy, buddy basis. Only McCain, who I worked for, when he was a Two Star. It was a "Yes Sir, No Sir" relationship. OT |

It's pretty difficult to meet officers when you're
stuck in the galley peeling potatoes, isn't that right cookie? S.Simon "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... No Joe, I never met Adm. King. I did met Nimitz, Halsey, Kincaid, McCain. Simple.
I was one of four Orderlies for Adm McCain. It was about a year and it was the duty I was Discharged from, when I left the War Time Navy. Neal, you are right though. I put in my time at Mess Cooking. Three months. I made more damn Apple Pies in that time than most Wifes will ever see. Ole Thom |

"The Carrolls" wrote in message ... Hey, Neil, you are the right age, what branch did you serve in, and where? Regular Army. Viet Nam, Cambodia, Utah. Utah was the best. But, I'm not supposed to mention Cambodia because the U.S. Army was not supposed to be there and I'm not supposed to mention Viet Nam because it's supposed to be classified duty. I know a few disabled vets who were injured in Cambodia and it took them 20 years to get disability benefits because how could they get hurt in a place the Army never fought? Can you say catch 22? Luckily I never got hurt seriously. Call me lucky, call me good, call me a son of a bitch, I don't care . . . S.Simon |

How much fighting was there in Utah? Or
were you busy wrestling young Mormon girls? Bart "Simple Simon" wrote Regular Army. Viet Nam, Cambodia, Utah. Utah was the best. |
