These deaths are easy to fix. Unfortunately, they're expensive both in $$
and politics. Fix for gun-related deaths... a number of thing to reducce the carnage... require gun locks on all new handguns made or imported into the US, legalize drugs, which will decrease the gang-related deaths (not that I care), increase the general level of education and improve the economy.. (crime in general has risen since Bushy took office, yet fell I believe every year Clinton was in office). Fix for highway deaths... get car manufactures to devise better cars that have more collision avoidence technology, improve the protection inside the vehicle, for larger SUV owners to pay hefty fees to own one (good for the environment also), make the bumpers a standard size (this one is in the works actually), set a speed limit and strictly enforce it (65, 75, doesn't matter) and reintroduce the minimum speed limit, and put more cops on the streets (works for gun-deaths too). Bush *knows* this, and yet he does nothing to stop it. What would you suggest he do? Each year 186,000 people get killed on the road. In a 20 year period that will be 3,720,000! And Bush knows this, too. SV |
