"Scott Vernon" wrote in message ... Yes, but, for the last couple hundred years or so, at least here in the states, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. BTW, some stupid liberal PC morons bitched about one of the schools' Christmas decorations. They had to replace ''Merry Christmas'' banners with ''Happy Holidays''. Today, I heard that schools are no longer allowed to stage "Nativity" plays at Christmas. Non-Christians might be offended!! I sent my kids to a Catholic school in the hope that they would get the Christian education that I had failed to give them. At the first parent-teacher evening, I was shocked to discover that the Catholic priest who taught Religious Education, was actually teaching Theology(perhaps "Religous Awaewness")!!! The government has laid down the curriculum for the teaching of religion. All major religions must get equal coverage. So my kids are being taught about Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, as well as Christianity. Catholocism doesn't get a look in. It is really m/s/b/ad that the government feels that it must override the wishes of parents in this way. This method ot teaching can only result in a generation of atheists. Regards Donal -- |
