Why the double standard here????
Say you're a woman and subscribe to a knitting newsgroup . . .
Say you're a woman who is interested in and has a hobby knitting and crocheting so you find and subscribe to alt.knitting&crocheting. You become a regular subscriber and enjoy the good topical information other women have to offer. The group becomes a good source of information about your hobby. You meet some interesting women who also enjoy the same hobby. All is well. Then one day along comes an obnoxious pushy man who invades the group from alt.aviation. This man knows nothing about knitting and crocheting, is not interested in knitting and crocheting and doesn't post anything about knitting and crocheting. Instead, this man, acting like a gigolo and a John, starts hitting on some of the women in the group. This man's posts consist only of flirtation and sexual innuendo. In other words, he is attempting to disrupt the group and pick up women who don't wish to be bothered while engaged in discussing their hobby of knitting and crocheting. This behavior is considered rude and unacceptable universally except perhaps to one, desperate, lovelorn, mousy-looking woman who starts returning the man's advances with obnoxious posts of poetry and sexual suggestions. The women in the group ask the cad to go away yet he still hangs around bothering everyone. The group asks the lovelorn woman to take it e-mail yet she refuses and continues to disrupt the group. She seems to feel it is her right to disrupt the group with her immature activities as does the invading man with his antisocial behavior. Everyone here, after reading the above scenario would agree the man is an asshole and a jerk and the woman who encourages his disruptive behavior is not any better. The question I have to ask is why, when Lady Pilot does the very same thing here on alt.sailing.asa, do people not consider her to be an asshole and a jerk? And why when Mooron facilitates her do people not hound him down? Am I the only one here who treats both genders equally? Am I the only one here with any common sense and logic. Am I the only one here with any morals? Am I the only one with balls enough to call a whore a whore and a John a John? Think about it. S.Simon |

Thanks for the invitation, Katy. I might just take you up on the "going
sailing" offer. That is unless Capt. Mooron comes up with a better offer. ;-) It wouldn't be "ridicule" at all to be able to sail, to the contrary. An old boyfriend from Chicago was in the aviation business. He owned a sailboat, although I never got up that way to go sailing, because he used to fly to either OKC or Tulsa to visit me. Also my flight instructor's son, who broke a world flying record at age 16, has a 35-40 ft sailboat on the land behind his Dad's place. The sailboat is probably rotted by now...it hasn't been on the water in over 15 years, IIRC.
