WINDY ~~~~~~~~~~

A lot colder today, probably a 15 plus degree drop but not a cloud in the
sky. Spent part of the day on the small stores crane with an open seat, in
the shade and me with Carhartt work shorts and a T-Shirt. Locals kept
asking if I was not cold? Nope . . .it's a Seattle Summer Day sez I, hiding
the obvious behind a bit of Yankee bravado. Later in the McGregor crane
with the enclosed operator cab I got to turn on the heater. Another nice
thing about this job. So far picked up fork lift operators license from
4,000 lb capacity to 15 ton capacity, Crane operator from the small 6,000
pound to the big twinned boom McGregors at 110 tons capacity and that's just
a start. A lot of our group end up in other unions because of the
diversity of our training and trade. It's funny but I can make more income
than most college graduates, in fact I never mention my degree anymore.
Somehow doesn't seem right does it? Oh well better than relying on an 8th
Grade Diploma and a lot of BS like some. Back on the crew boats and I think
another tug 'observers' ride on Sunday if all goes well.

So how about sailing? Well the good news is we're crewing up all the ships
again. But first I get a short vacation of two weeks or so. The first part
will be sailing near Tampa, FL and the second on my own boat up in the Puget
Sound. Finally!! Meanwhile I'm working on a short visit to a nearby marina
where a friend has a Bristol Channel cutter and . . .who knows?

Well . . .that's enough . .the title was WINDY . . . .and there you have it.
Meanwhile I'm going back to Lat's and Att's and see what's happening there!
Some of those folks would qualify for .asa.

Cheers and fair winds

Dang it's windy today! 36 gusts to 50 mph. supposed to last till

Sorm must have abated somewhat then when it moved SE...we had gusts over
60...

Maybe, but my plans have changed for today....all the water blew out of

the
creek and I can't get off the boat!

Don't like sloggin mud?

Haha! Phantom wasn't aground, unlike a bunch around here. Lots of boats
were hanging from rigid docklines all day. We clocked a gust of 63 knots
that day, more than we had for the hurricane, do ya think anyone came by to
tend their boats?

You grow celery? My herb garden didn't do well this year, too much rain and
then the flooding just wiped it out.

You grow celery?

I don't personally...we have all sand and gravel for soil...we're up on =
top of an old glacial moraine...but they do in all the lowlands around =
this area...Hudsonville and Zeeland in particular have HUGE celery =
farms...during the summer when you drive by with your windows open on =
the xway, the air smells of celery...
