The Bad, the Ugly and the Horrific...and the good

Beneteau
Horrible dark interior. Extremely cheap build quality. Lowest resale of any
modern boat.

Express 30 and 35
Terribly dated due to focus on racing. No fleets for these J-boat wannabes and
little interest due to the angular design that offends the eye.

Siedleman 30
Ugh. It's 30 feet with pretty cushions, right? A poor sailing boat that gets
less respect than Mac, Beneteau or even Hunter. Cheap. Poor quality everywhere.
Hard to give them away.

The C&C 32...the good!
because C&C focused on building quality yachts, these boats remain popular and
respected. They also focused heavily on family cruiser elements, so that as her
performance dated, her cruisability remained. Better built than any of the
other boats by far.

And yet all of the boats Booby disdains have carried their owners (in this group) an order
of magnitude further than Booby's boat. His big trip of the season was virtually within
the city limits! Is he afraid to test the quality?

Still sailed more day and nights than anyone here! Couldn't sail far because my
wife is in school.

You lose AGAIN!

I lose? You're the one who has a nice cruising boat and only daysails! I did more
daysails before I was 18 than you'll do in your life; but now that I'm grown up I enjoy
going a little further than the marina across the Sound.

This was an "off year" for us, but we still took three trips further and longer than any
you did this summer. In fact, it looks like just about everyone in the group does more
real sailing than you, Booby.

We did the same last year, while my wife was recovering from Achilles tendon surgery.
Cast & crutches until Labor Day. With kid. And 3 cats.

And even though we worked full time last millennium, and my wife got her Masters, we
managed to go take at least one long trip every summer, sometimes two. We were even doing
overnights in the month before Amelia was born.

So you kept bragging that you were going to take one trip "out of sight of land." What
happened to that? Wimp out?

But, I did spend an enormous amount of
time on dinghies this year and there was Wednesday
night racing.

That's all "sight of land" sailing, Stevey! According to the group, it doesn't
count!
We went to the Thimbles, Centerport, Port Jeff, Jersey Coast and so on.
Get back to me when you've sailed.

We sailed out after JC.

Wait, did I just list a bunch of places within a stone's throw of my marina? I
meant Halifax, Bermuda, Charleston, Tortola and Trinidad.

you're claiming you went down the coast? I'm rather skeptical!

Ah, so. Typical Booby, West Bank L is a scant 5 miles from the bridge, and still within
NY city limits. He made one cryptic comment that he went "sailing about 20 miles off
from Verzano bridge" but never mentioned passing Sandy Hook. I guess his miles are about
a quarter the size of ours.

You've been using the same, old, tired pics for the
past year. You don't take new ones because you
never go anywhere on your wife's sailboat.

The C&C 32...the good!

You forget (maby you never knew) Express Yachts was started by ex C&C people
who were dissatisfied with what was going on at C&C. Poor design, dated
product line, poor build quality etc. So they left and formed Express Yachts,
hired a real designer and built better boats. Period, end of story.

I read all about Express some time ago. They were not unhappy with quality.
They just wanted their own show and faster designs. But the designs didn't
catch on.
The company FAILED and so did the boats.
End of the story!

Right, loco! C&C isn't a legend in the sailing business so porwerful that it
was resurected with new designs following closely on the heals of past C&Cs!
You make a bigger ass of yourself with every post.
Express is the DeLorean of sailboats. A few good ideas wrapped in a package
that just didn't catch on. It was a dud.
Meanwhile, the C&C name still flies high with high demand for all models
(except maybe the Mega!).
You are an idiot!

And C&C survived. Express didn't. Lots of companies are bought out, restarted
and so on. It happens when a name, like C&C carries enough clout to make it
happen. When will the grand Express bring back it's well respected name?
Never. They never made a dent, not a scratch on the history of boatbuilding.
