Probably much the same workforce. I think it's a matter of corporate policy, not geography. Some of the highest dollar/pound or $/ft boats on the planet are built here in NC. The custom shops that build those damnable souped-up sportsfishermen are backed up two years, prepaid. But I doubt any of them made Ferenc Mate's book (and I bet they don't care, either).
