Captain Neal, He's da MAN!
My Coronado was made in 1971 and is hull number 91 That works out to over 400 boats in four years. JUST the same pace as the C&C 27. Please explain. I dare you to. We paid 16K for her. She'll sell for double that or more. In fact, a boat no where near her good condition for more than double this past spring. In addition to that I took out some business people this year who saw fit to reward me with a gift of cash. Finally, indirectly Alien has led me to two very nice deals on boats, sold for well above what I paid. It's been a nice year and to say we sail for free isn't accurate. We're now well ahead of the game. The same goes for the 34XL. We're paying 25K or more under TMV and so we'll make money when we trade up/sideways/down. There you have it! RB |

So you're not making very much out of it. Bob, you really do think "small". I've told you before that you need to think "out of the box". Try to stand back and look at the situation a bit differently. You will see that you aren't making very much at all. You should be a bit more ambitious. Let's put it another way:- Your life, just like your boats, is a series of stepping stones. However, each step is too small. You are never going to get very far unless you try to raise your personal expectations. Go for it, Bob! Take charge of your own life! Make a decent film! Regards Donal -- |

You are never going to get very far
unless you try to raise your personal expectations. But my next boat is better and faster than yours. I'm just turning 41. My stepping stones are part of a learning curve that I enjoy and it outpaces yours. The "most" boat I'd ever want would be a new Baltic (or the like) and we'll own one in the next 6-8 years. Oh, Donal...I see that you DO care! RB |

Your life, just like your boats, is a series of stepping stones.
This makes me wonder if you know what "stepping stone" really means! Everyone's life is a series of stepping stones. It's called evolution and progression. Yap all you like about "liking" that Beneteau, but you know it's a cheap boat compared to many. One day you may have better. Perhaps you're already planning for a nicer boat one day. If not, then you're missing what the combination of youth and sailing different boats can offer. Old age is for settling down with "the" boat. Now..tell us, my boy, will you ever have a better boat? Captain Neal, You're an authority!!!
No. Not everyone. Case in point... Neal. Just kidding.
But seriously, a life should be a journey. Evolution and progression are not discrete steps. Rather, they are a continuous progress, a flow, much like a river to the sea. If you're 41, you should have figured this out by now. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Your life, just like your boats, is a series of stepping stones. Everyone's life is a series of stepping stones. Absoutely correct. However, in your case, the stepping stones seem to be placed very close to each other. It's called evolution and progression. I really don't think that I will ever have a better boat. I like speed and performance. However, I also like comfort. Therein lies my problem. Every boat that I see that is more comfortable, is also slower. As you can see, quality doesn't really come into the equation. I suspect that my next boat will be more "comfortable" than my present boat. It will also be bigger. I really hope that it will be faster. I'm not sure that it has been built yet. On the other hand, your next boat won't be difficult to find. It just needs to be better than a 1970's C&C 32. Regards Donal -- |
Captain Neal, You're an authority!!!
soutely correct.
However, in your case, the stepping stones seem to be placed very close to each other. Because my progression is far faster than most. How old are you, Donal? At 41 I'm about to sail my 4th boat, and a nicer one than yours while making a profit! People progress at different rates. Only someone as insecure as you would be so concerned with my "stepping stones." RB |

The Baltic I want is aprox. 700K on the used market. It doesn't belong on the LI Sound. Buying one now is a complete waste of a fine boat, given limited time with my wife in school. But when we move to the Chesapeak, it'll be a good choice. The Baltic is not our only choice. We're also sailing a far less expensive Tartan this summer. That's another excellent sailing vessel that is far better built than your toy. RB |

At least everyone can see that it's you who's consumed with material things. I wouldn't buy a Baltic now anymore than I'd buy a snowmobile to use in Queens. I couldn't even use it enough to make it happy. You truly don't understand boats at all. RB |
