well as an ass, then we wouldn't be able to talk to you.

The renewal process is no longer short and sweet. Once you get the
material, make sure you read it thoroughly and fill out all the blocks
and info .... pay close attention to the medical (be sure your physician
fills it completely).
Any missed or omitted info will cause a reject.
I don't know when your renewal date is, but you have a years grace
(can't use the license during that time, but for you that's not a problem).

ROFL ... yeah, 'specially since you don't stand a chance of making $95
and the cost of a medical off that license in any event!

Maybe you could get a deckhand job to pay for it ... oops, forgot, you
aren't qualified for that job either!

You can expect anywhere from 1 to 2 months for the process to complete.
BG Guess you could say that the "bureaucratic blizzard/process" is one
way to weed out those not really in need of the license or making use of it.
The $95 fee is peanuts, compared to what others are having to shell out
for schooling, test, and the license itself.

I make very good use of my Master's license. It's invaluable as
a tool to make people on this group mad at me for flaunting it
in their faces and it's good to have in case I need to get a job
working as captain on some locally operated boat around here.
Moreover, it is good to have in that it gives me a reason to keep
myself current on the COLREGS and any changes that may
occur to the RULES and also it gives me credibility when I
argue here against those who would misinterpret and misconstrue
the Rules to attempt to 'motor on full speed ahead' heedless
of any and all dangers. Also it is necessary to have when I
charge money to take people out for a sail on my fine yacht
for moonlight cruises, etc and on my Boston Whaler for fishing
and Back Country sight seeing. Just because I don't have a job
on some stinking tugboat does not make me any less a
Captain than some motorhead working for the man.

ROFLMAO Flaunting a piece of paper (and for you that's all your license
is) does nothing to impress or anger anyone.
In your case, it just proves that the license itself is just that .... a
piece of paper and no guarantee of competence and/or experience ....
something you constantly prove to all, that you don't possess (the
competence and experience part).
As for the COLREGs, you are proof positive that knowing the words and
knowing the meaning are two different things (hmmmm now that I think
about it, you frequently screw up the words, also).
As I've said before, no matter how hard you try, no matter what the
words say on your license, you will never be a Master Mariner.

BG Good luck on the renewal and keep us informed of your progress ....
we do so enjoy a good laugh and you have a propensity for supplying them

Thank you, I am. My lovely restored tug is a pleasure to work on with
all its fine wood and polished brass fixtures.

My seagoing employment allows me to take extended periods off and since
I just finished a nice recreational cruise in the San Juan Islands and a
jaunt around Southeast Alaska's inside passage I am very happy to stay
ashore and work on my boat. Every day here is a nice day.

I hope that your blood pressure doesn't stay high for so long you cannot
renew that little "license" you take such pleasure in waving around.
Judging by your last post it must be on the increase ... you really do
need to learn better coping skills. Real mariners simply take such
things in stride unlike landsmen such as yourself.

To be honest though, it doesn't really matter if you can renew that
piece of paper anyway. It has no less value expired. By itself it is
simply a piece of paper. It is the list of other certifications,
qualifications, and experience that you LACK that define you as merely
another internet wannabe.
