The paint's not dry on the new garage and the new toy arrived on the
transporter a few hours ago.
A 1973 246GTS Cabriolet...complete with the mandatory pool of oil
under the engine.
This will need to be fixed before it can be registered here though
sympathetic officionados will realise that the beasts leaked on the
showroom floor and do overlook this minor idiosyncracy.

I was trying to be funny.

Years ago there was a fellow in our local sports car club who painted a
Porsche 356 "British Racing Green." The crueler members laughed at him,
most of us just felt sorry for him.

These were always one of my favorites, a few years back you could get a nice
one for around $150k, but prices on all these collector cars have gone up
since the stock market tanked.

I guess I'll have to settle for this, have the car, all I need is the engine
and kit.

An inexpensive way to embarrass Vette owners at the stoplight, a local firm
is selling a turnkey version with 600 h.p. for $75k!!, though I have yet to
see one on the road and probably never will.

I've met the guy who makes those Focus kits and seen the car. The really
unusual and great part of the thing is to do the conversion with his kit it
requires no welding. Pretty rare for this big a project. I would imagine if
you went all out on a motor it would be like driving a funny car. I'd rather
build a quality Cobra replica.

AutoWeek did a review of a turnkey car that's being produced locally. 600
hp. IIRC, they said it wasn't too difficult to drive once you got past the
launch part, and it still seemed to handle fairly well.

What kind of car? The one that's being discussed or what?
Being somewhat familiar with overpowered cars since I owned a 1700lb car
with an 85 inch wheelbase that had a Ford small block putting out around 320HP
I would think a 2600lb short wheelbase Focus with 600HP would be a handfull
until 3rd gear when going all out.

Nah, you'd want "low" rear end gears to make it better from light to light. On
the beltway at 60 you'd be turning 4,000RPM.
