sailnet e-mail lists
"Intenost" wrote in message ... Thanks Dr. Mengele. Look the guy said, and I agreed, that there's a lot of off topic stuff going on here. I didn't think I made a big deal of it, just agreed with the guy, and expressed my own frustration, since I came here hoping to participate in some discussions that would enhance my sailing skills, offer advice to others, especially those interested in sailing in Boston or the San Juans both of which I'm very familiar with, and chat with others who, like me, are preparing to take the written for the 6-pack exam. Turns out this is the wrong place. alt.sailing is much more focused on sailing, but kinda light on activity. I'll check out sailnet although I prefer usenet, because it's easier to read offline. If anyone has any suggested places to go for what I am looking for, I thank you in advance. If you prefer to spew hateful comments, that is your right. And the bull**** about suing the group, what kind of crazy comment is that? I can waste my own time without blaming it on anyone else. I choose to waste less of it then others, and more then some. It's my choice and yours as well. Although I am surprised that the American Sailing Association, as the sponsor of this news group, doesn't take a more active role in facilitating it's intended use, which is, as they say on their website "Exchange information on a wide variety of sailing topics by visiting our Usenet Newsgroup. alt.sailing.asa" It seems like it has been hijacked for other purposes, and the cross-posting is just awful. - Inten Ost "The_navigator©" wrote in message ... Hey, Yea there is a lot of crap here I wish they would find another place for all the drivel, it's kinda like net terrorism, a few wackos ruin the ability to have a valuable resource for sailing related topics. But you can do what I do, killfile about 90% of the posters here and every once in a while something useful pops up. You are absolutely right to be upset! Here we are, people from around the world, getting paid good money to provide *you* with a valuable sailing resource. What do we do? Yeah, you're right - we treat the place like an "alt" newsgroup! Here is your plan of action:- 1: Get a good lawyer. 2: Sue each and every one of us. 3: Make us give your money back 4: Demand suitable damages for the time that you have wasted. Alternatively, you could simply go to a local bar and tell the regular customers that their conversation bores you. Regards Donal -- |

If you have a question then ask. If you seek knowlege then there's lots
here. This is the NG with the cleverest people anywhere. Only this NG can questions on any subject with astonishing accuracy. There are more degrees (and Ph.D's) and doses of common sense here than in any other NG. You really don't expect a bunch of real sailors to just sit around politely talking about how to gybe do you? Try to understand what this NG is all about and you will learn much more. I guess what I'm saying is that only the stupid see stupidity here... So stay or leave, it's your choice and we won't miss you because at this point you have not made us laugh, cry nor taught us anything. Cheers MC Intenost wrote: Thanks Dr. Mengele. Just to let you know, you've reached your word limit for non-sailing
related whining. Get with the program now and change to some non-whining off topic subject. Scout ----- "People are more violently opposed to fur than leather, because it is easier to harass rich women than it is motorcycle gangs." "Intenost" wrote: Thanks Dr. Mengele. {snipped} |

"Intenost" wrote in message ... Thanks Dr. Mengele. snip whining If you prefer to spew hateful comments, that is your right. And the = bull**** about suing the group, what kind of crazy comment is that? It was intended to highlight the fact that the people who post here do not have any obligation to you at all. You complained that people that you have never met before, were not writing the kind of things that you approve of. I was highlighting the stupidity of your assertion. You aren't paying for it, so don't complain! Now, you seem unhappy that people have responded negatively to your critisism. Some people have been here for many years. Almost every aspect of sailing has already been discussed - many times. Believe it, or not, they are not going to wind the clock back, and have the same conversations all over again, just because you missed them the first time around. However, you may of course ask any questions that you like. Most people here will answer them, and some will flame them. I = can waste my own time without blaming it on anyone else.
