It's Here!

Everything is calm and peaceful. The boat is as secure as I can make it,
everyone on the dock is gone or Gone. We have a nice summer breeze out of
the NNE....

It's picking up. I just did noise patrol...found out the storm windows
thunk back & forth. Clothes pins make great wedges, don't they? Dock lines
look good, but I think the tide's gone upa bit.

Be Safe Haggy! Use shackles and thimbles on all your docklines!!! (Good
thing all the neighbors are gone so nobody can get too "up close and
personal")
Hope your rig stays OK!

Heh heh, maybe there'll be some good deals after the storm! Honestly, the
way some people tie up.

It's blowing about 20 now and the boat feels comfortable...

Humph, I have a boat on both sides of me...

Smart of us not to put the rig on, huh?

Yep!

We had a hurricane in 1987. We didn't get any warning. In fact, a well
known forecaster explicitly said on TV that there would *not* be a hurricane
that night. He was replying to someone who had called the station and asked
if a hurricane was due.

At the time I had a powerboat (my famous 24' Bayliner). As there was no
warning, we didn't take any precautions. There was no damage to any
boats(AFAIK) in our marina. However, the marina was sheltered AND it had a
lock. So a tidal surge was not a real issue.

If your marina is sheltered, then you shouldn't have any problem. Without a
rig, your main worry should be the pontoons, and the piles.

Good luck - and report back to us tomorrow!

Are Scotty, Pony and Loco also in the danger area?

It's somewhat sheltered. We went up to the sail loft earlier and there are
waves piling by in the Severn River and whitecaps going by us here in the
creek, but it's pretty calm here in the slips (pens). The water is about
18" below the dock and high tide is supposed to be at 10pm...I sure hope
Scupper uses the astro turf in the shower! My TV went west a little while
ago so I'll be on the computer until they turn off the power. I have a
romantic candle lit evening before me (& the dog, sheesh...)!

Good luck - and report back to us tomorrow!

I'll try, I hope someone remembers we're out here and picks us up!

Scott and Pony are further north of here. I saw the marina but I'm not sure
how far from the Bay it is. They're probably there now.
