CM,

Nutsy will admit to some bull**** about wedges to move bent mast and
magic boat posts to the back pages, where he was getting in deeper and
deeper. You've got him with the wedges but he is moving the other posts.
He'll soon have another troll to cover the wedges

CM,

Maybe it wasn't a knife? Could it have been a nail file? No,maybe not.
Ladies in NYC carry switch blades. Nutsy's lovelies wouldn't get on his
boat without a knife. She probably was carrying a spike and shackle
wrench, also. Yeah. Sure. What's an even sail without a rigger kit? All
my guest carry them on MY boat :^) for a day sail. Don't they do it on
"Overproof?"

Ole Thom

Let me help mooron, who is the ONLY person who suggested that she was pushing a
knife into the wood to check for rot.
What she was endeavoring to do was MOVE the wedges. Jabbing them at the base.
You dug your own hole. You filled it with your own facts.
AND NOW.....you lost!

Bwahahahahahahahaha!

Bobsprit September 11th 03 11:49 AM

And still it gets worse for poor Mooron...thanks to the C&C people at Sailnet!

The mast wedges are used to precisely locate your mast within the "partners"
(the hole in your deck where the mast goes through). They must hold the mast
firmly in that position, so that in a seaway, the mast will not pump
(fore/aft or laterally) or twist in the partners. The mast wedges can also be
used to a limited extent to introduce prebend into the mast by forcing the
mast slightly forward of center in the partners. On some boats it is also a
good idea to have a set of wedges for the mast step as well to prevent the
foot of the mast from wandering.

Robert, your friend is correct. best to change them if there's doubt. After
ten years I'd change them. Sorry you'll have have to redo the boot. Why not
look into the plastic/rubber types?

No thanks! I'd prefer to see this thread stay on topic.

We are discussing your story about "rotting" wedges, that your friend poked
a knife into.

Wedges are important for the safety of some vessels, so I think that lying
about them is highly irresponsible. I know that you take great pride in the
fact that your lies never relate to safety issues. Perhaps you should
reconsider your position??

No Thom... my guests just bring a bottle opener.... :-)
Then again.. everything on my boat is in working order and maintained that
way.

The mast was stepped for less than two hours, went right back up. Why the
interest?

RB

Stepped for less than two hours. Bwahahahahahahaah!

Yeah... a senior position at an engineering firm. I had already accepted the
work up north so I'm only there until November ... but they needed qualified
staff and my CV caught their eye. It'll be a few weeks before I see a cheque
though. Oh well.. it's interesting work in a specific field I haven't spent
much time with... local/residential.

Pay is good.... but I'll make twice that much in half the time up north.
