Default Shark Alert off P'town!

I need someone who is qualified to identify these sharks for me:

http://www.sv-loki.com/whales/

RB - this is what you could see if you ever got out of your pond. While you day sail,
some of us actually go places.

Ha Ha ha.... Right Whale!!! Ha ha ha ha

Oh boy...

I can see confusion between Minkie and Pilot Whales..... but the far one is
indeed a Humpback. Right Whales summer in their calving grounds in the Bay
of Fundy, Nova Scotia.

Humpback whales are white on their ventral sides including
fins and tail

I did not see any white in the photos of your so-called
Humpbacks.

Also the mouth is wrong for a Humpback.

H Ha Ha.... put down that hash brownie and back away from the jar....
slowly!

BTW - How close have you ever been to a Humpback? I've been 3 feet away....
I had one breach about 20 feet away... I was on a 12 ft Avon inflatable with
a buddy from Woods Hole recording Humpback songs.... if he had fell on the
opposite side he would have crushed us flat.

I see whales a lot up here... but then again I sail the open ocean not a
protected barrier reef. I can understand your limited knowledge of large
marine mammals.

Sorry Neal.

When I got back from the trip I went to the Center for Coastal Studies and talked to guide
who had been on one of the whale watch boats observing this group. He has a lot of
experience, and was with the first whale entanglement rescue about 20 years ago. They are
the only group on the East Coast licensed to do this.

He said that he made 7 or 8 positive IDs of humpbacks, and there might have been a few
more. The rest were about 20 minkes.

http://www.coastalstudies.org/

On the way back to Boston, I heard a radio report the a blue whale was about 10 miles
behind us, a bit too far to go back. Of course, I don't know how reliable the observer
was.

Never touched a whale but have touched manatees, porpoises, turtles, rays,
sharks (including a whale shark) and even moray eels. Whales would
frighten me because they are big enough to smash my boat should they
get mad or too protective of their calves.

And angry turle could smash your lame boat! The average Otter could stove in
the coronado's hull with a single charge.
