Going back to something that's a necessity (work), so I can feed & clothe my
family, which BTW I do love more than sailing. I'm guessing 98% here would put family before sailing. Oops! I read that wrong. I would put sailing before family anyday. I'd put $5 before family. I have no family. Ave Imperator Bush! Bush Was Right! Four More Beers! |

I certainly would. But I have no family. At least your road to Hell is paved with good intention... -- katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. Heinlein |

I'd put $5 before family. I have no family. I take it back...your road to Hell is a steep, slippery slope... -- katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. Heinlein |

If you love sailing so much, WHY DON'T YOU RACE? I think many folks would
agree that racing IS the purest form of sailing. If you think that sailing isn't escapism, then you don't have a clear idea what the word means. Do you sail because it reminds you of work? You sail because it is FUN!!! Escapism in a nutshell. John Cairns "Simple Simon" wrote in message ... One goes sailing for the love of sailing and the love of sailing alone. Sailing to escape is not a pursuit worthy of a man. It makes a mockery of the world's most noble way of life. Escapism assumes the escaper is going back to something he loves more. Anyone who loves anything more than sailing is no sailor by definition. "John Cairns" wrote in message ... That's weird, I thought the whole idea was to escape? Even those folks sailing around the world(not racing) would probably define their travels as escapism. If Neal is such critic of escapism sailing, why isn't he racing? John Cairns "Scott Vernon" wrote in message ... I think Neal went off on a tirade about 'escapism sailing' once. That's what I did, went sailing to escape. Been working steady for 3-4 weeks. I needed a break. Took a few days, sailed down to Rock Hall and 'hid' in the boat. Worked like a charm! Feel much better now and ready to get back to the grindstone. BTW, there was 1,233 posts this morning! Scotty |
