Default A new car!

Shhh...don't discourage Bob. Having once upon a time owned one of the
old British sports cars, I think it would be ideal for him Fun to
drive on rare occasion and a huge pain in the ass the rest of the
time

If I were to regress to my thrill seeking days, I would have hung on
to my old Porsche 930 (pre-emission, high octane engine). That was a
fun car for the years that I owned it. Exotic cars are like exotic
women. Fun to ride now and then, but I wouldn't want to pay the
maintenance of owning either one

So much for the MGAs, Austin Healy's and Lotus' cars.

When real men buy a sports car real men buy Cobras, Griffiths, TVRs,
Panteras, Mangustas, Monteverdis, Bizzarrini 5300s, Maseratis, Ferraris,
Panozs, Corvettes, McLarens or yes Lotus now makes a V8 powered Esprit. But
you didn't know that.

True, but you really can have your cake and eat it too. What you want is an
exotic that uses an American V8. Unlike a Ferrari etc you can blow the engine
to dust and can afford to buy a new one. I'm presently keeping my eye out for
a Pantera L. Italian mid engine V8 powered by a Ford 351. I'll install 4
Webers and have some fun.

What a depressing image this conjures: a heavyset, sweaty guy in a tank top
leaning into the engine box of some little old piece of crap on a Queens side
street because he doesn't have a proper garage, with one eye constantly askance
looking for the mugger who is going to take what meager funds he has.

Sure I do. It's a disaster with major chassis problems.

Haven't read that anywhere. Can you post a link to some info?
