Then it sounds like you've got a handle on it. Katy's
ISP has problems with it's server(s). I have one more
suggestion. It might be that they have too much security
on their proxy server. Katy should try bypassing the
proxy and set up her own firewall. She can de-activate
the proxy using the "Properties" dialog box and the
"Connections" tab of Internet Explorer.

They tout security as being their selling point, and I will tell you that I do not get spammed more than 3-4 times aweek, which
is a far cry better than on aol where every other message was junk or porn...they also fine people for tampering with their
system....in reality, I have no wish to post to alt.airplanecrash.com, but I don't understand why ace.net has all of a sudden
become a grouchy place for them...BTW, they do not carry any newswervers at all...they do not care if their clientele uses
usenet at all...i got the German server from MC and a few others here who use it with little problems and up until last week
have had no problems whatsoever with it....

What a crummy sounding ISP you have there. Part of what one pays for
when one pays an ISP is for a news server. Do check into the proxy settings
because you still have to go thru their gateway to get access to the Internet.

Prodigy is giving me hell. Messages come and go like consumers at a
crack house. The server is hosed bad. Every once in a while, a PacMan
like gobbler eats its way through the entire list leaving behind only
"Message no longer available on server" where the subject should be. A
few minutes later the server will report them available again.
