Here's a list of some enjoyable movies that capture the true spirit of what
it is to be an American:

1. The Patriot. Women will love Mel Gibson and manly men will love his
handling of firearms, the family usage of firearms and the climatic scene of
Mel running through the British lines with the American flag.

2. Yankee Doodle Dandy. An American classic. Cagney taught himself to dance,
a story of a family that worked together and role model wives.

3. The Sands of Iwo Jima. How average Joes became manly men. The ending
scene is one of the best. No groups hugs here, just more determined killing
of those who threatened our way of life.

4. The Fountainhead. One man's battle with mediocrity. The courtroom speech
says it all.

5. Rocky 1 or 4. Rocky 1 is the American success story of Stallone. The
movie was made in 30 days, he wouldn't sell the script he demanded the lead
role. What a man! Rocky 4, he takes on the Russian giant Dolph Lundgren.
Best line is when Lundgren says: "he is like a piece of iron".

6. Dr Strangelove. A supposed parody of the American way. Real Americans
portrayed in every role, contrasting with British fems and Russian dolts.
Just think, if that movie really played out how much better the world would
be. Don't miss Sterling Haydens (a real life sailor) Browning in the golf
bag, Slim Pickens spirited bomb ride and Keenan Winn respecting private
property (you'll have to answer to the Coca Cola Company). This movie makes
any real American proud!

7. The Alamo, starring John Wayne. A small group of Texans fight for
independence against a foreign tyrant.

(BTW, it's worth watching Dr. Strangeglove just to hear the best line
ever given in a movie. A Russian General and an American General,
(played by George C. Scott, if I remember correctly), get into a fist
fight inside the war room. A Washington politician yells, "Gentleman!
You can't fight in here! This is the War Room!)

What about T3?

I saw T3 last week. It's not as well written as the 1st two, but still a lot of
fun for a threequel.

Oh come on, Jon...he was a drunk and disipate individual...showed all the symptoms of bi-polarism...yes, he could sail and knew
what he was doing but I certainly wouldn't hold him up as someone to emulate....that would be like having your kids role model
after Neal....

I just saw the History of the American Revolution on the History channel. They showed the entire series in back to back episodes.
I recommend it.
