The Sea Star III caught but was unable to land a 24 foot Great White shark

past Saturday, about 2 miles North of City Island.

The largest Great White on record was found dead in netting in Australia at
36
feet 4 inches. No other Great White has ever come close, with maximum lengths
recorded at just over 26 feet. 25 feet is generally accepted as a "normal
maximum." I saw a dead 15 foot white and a 25 foot seems unimaginable to me.
A beautiful animal, but still a "monster" in every sense of the word.

Yea, I read it when I was a kid. A great book, but I don't remember the above
in it. In any event, lets see some documentation of a Great White of 25 feet
or more.

Right.. sure, but sharks exist in all the oceans of the world. If
they were hostile to people, it would not be possible to
swim in the ocean. Just ignore it.

Above lists size between 21-26 feet. Several records show 24 feet. Again, 25
feet appears to be the excepted max. The 36 foot specimen was collected in the
50's and the accuracy of it's measurement remains in doubt.
The 15 footer I saw looked whale sized. It's a very wide shark, compared to
some other species.
It's also the smartest of the sharks, which means it's smarter than the
Locofish.

I agree. If you are distracted looking for sharks in those waters,
there is a good chance that one of the sewer alligators will get you.

Yea, but all he came back with is "Animal Nation", published by the Atlanta
Journal Constitution, a newspaper written by people who have to drive 8 hours
to get to an ocean. Come on, Bubbles we want pictures and actual measurements.
