Genoa Trim question
30' boat with a masthead rig, flying a 155% in 12k. The middle windward
tell is breaking first. The top breaks well after the middle, followed very closely by the bottom. What, if anything would you do to optimize trim? -- ---- Steve S/V Pony Express |

Well, there's a novel idea. Let's pretend that we're close hauled. The
sail is sheeted in to about 2" off the end of the spreader, as usual for this close hauled course. -- ---- Steve S/V Pony Express "Gerard Weatherby" wrote in message ... If you're moving in the direction you want to go, and nothing's flapping, tearing, or chafing, relax and open a cold beer.

Assuming that all the tell tales are the standard 6", I would cut 4" off the middle tell-tale. I think that you will find that makes the problem go away. If that doesn't cure it, then you could try cutting another 2" off. Regards Donal -- |

Is the boat sailing north or south of the Equator?

I would also like to point out that the search for perfection can be very relaxing! While you are trying to trim your boat to perfection, all other problems are temporarily forgotten.
