Yeah. totally sucks, doesn't it? Yes. except for porn channels, she's
got about everything that Dish Network can offer.

We got the uppity zillion channel cable package and I watch four of
them on a regular basis - History, Discovery, Speed and SciFi.

And Red Sox games so I guess it's five.

TV sucks.

Is it just me, or is SciFi just getting more sucky on their programming.

No Bill, it's not just you.
it's more suck-ish every season. It would be amazing to see an alien
that didn't look like a human fish in a plastic suit that spoke
english for once.

A large part if SciFi's problem was Bonnie Hammer. She just didn't
get SciFi. The one thing she did well was green lighting "Farscape",
but she turned creative content control to David Kemper and Rockne
O'Bannon who went berzerk in the third season which sunk the series.
One of the complaints about Hammer was she felt that scifi in general
was low brow and thus drove the good productions into the ground and
introduced WWE. When SciFi was owned by Vevendi Universal, she pretty
much ran the show and damn near killed the channel - there was talk of
blending SciFi with USA at one point.

Fortunately, NBC bought everything from Vevendi and NBC is very
friendly to scifi as a genre. When David Howe was hired as SciFi's
General Manager, he displaced Hammer and things have improved, but
with the single exception of Dr. Who and BSG, the network has
struggled with funding.

Rumor has it that funding will be increased in the future for more
original projects and series purchases - let's hope so.
