Many years ago, while moose hunting, we had to break the ice in the

morning.
The ice had formed overnight to about 12mm thickness. It went from 10
degrees, when we went to sleep in the evening, to minus 15 in the

morning.
We were using an aluminum boat with a 15 HP. It was hard going!

Moose hunting? Moose steaks? Really?

Field dressing and carrying out a moose is a serious undertaking.

It's not that tough a job. They are heavy and have to be taken out in
pieces, of course. A big one can be up to around 500 kilos. We had to
make 3 trips with the boat to get the meat and our gear out of the bush. A
lot more trips if we had used the canoes instead of the aluminum boat.
There are lots of good steaks and roasts when the moose is cut up for
winter meals.
