Your vessel is heavy and has an old, deep keel design all of which work to
create a large wave train. So much energy goes into making these waves
that there is little left to move your vessel forward.
My vessel pays no heed to 4 foot seas.... and if you were half the sailor
you claim ... you'd know enough to work over the sea... instaed of having it
work you over.
My fin-keeler is faster on every point of sail than an equivalent
full-keeler
but it is markedly faster downwind because it can surf with control.
Your boat wouldn't surf with a 200hp Merc pushing it... let alone sails. My
boat on the other hand tracks like a train on rails downwind...... way
faster than that finicky fin keeled coastal cruiser of yours!
