As my father worked at the Museum of Natural History for many years and I had
brief access to the scrolls when they were secured for x-ray in 1991.
No one, and I mean NO ONE can read them. They are in a language that looks a
lot like Klingon, which of course re-enforces my belief that Star Trek was

more
than just good sci-fi.

Total nonsense. Much of the text has been translated. It isn't quite the same
as modern Hebrew, but its not that far off. The fact that several books of the
Bible were found intact helped a lot, but anyone familiar with Hebrew would
recognize it immediately. The big problem is that much of scrolls have crumbled
into small pieces - computers are helping now to put it all back together. Now
that photos of all fragments are available to scholars much progress has been
made.
