Does anyone come here to talk about boating?
I still have an rbp shirt somewhere.
Maybe we need an rbp Facebook page to get with the new times? |

Usenet! not a binary newsgroup either. I bought a gently used Kokatat drysuit from an individual here years ago, argued incesantly with Scott Weiser, berated Corran Addison and Riot kayaks for their limited color choices, etc! Great fun!! :-) John Kuthe... |

I copied a post she made circa 11/14/2003: "I went paddling today, and looked around at the familiar scenery. Each time something came into view, my mind presented me with a word. Yes, that was a poem entitled "To Where Nothing has a Name", by Melissa Reese. She also posted, either here or Paddlewise, several others, "Random thoughts in search of a navigator", "Sings My Heart". It seems she may have been the one to add interesting ASCII artwork to her posts. Also, do you remember Rev. Bob Carter, who was a Presbyterian minister in Alaska, and wrote the wonderful stories about his adventures in paddling? I have quite a few of those. Think he posted most of those to Paddlewise, a bulletin board, which may still exist in html form. I have quite a collection of those and my searching never did turn up a book he had written. ....Edwin __________________________________________________ __________ "Once you have flown, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, there you long to return."-da Vinci http://www.kd5zlb.org |

Scott Weiser posts, and of course that psycho who shall not be named! Oh, and actual boating posts as well! I see 3 of those spams between 12/4/2015 and 1/3/2016. Before that, the last posts I see are a "test" on 21/2/2015 and a reply to "Just thought I would rephrase and try again....." on 9/27/2015 -- Pete Cresswell Yeah, looks like you and I are the only surviving RBPers!! I still have an RBP sticker on the back of my helmet! We are old school! John Kuthe... The logo was pretty cool. Was up at scout camp last weekend and went canoeing in aluminum canoes (forgot how heavy those Gummans were). Wasn't bad though when we got into cool parts of the lake and the bottom of the boat chilled. -- John Nelson ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chicago Area Paddling/Fishing Page http://www.chicagopaddling.org http://www.chicagofishing.org (A Non-Commercial Web Site: No Sponsors, No Paid Ads and Nothing to Sell) |
