Default Masting & Rigging vintage manual Tallships FA

Masting and Rigging The Clipper Ship and Ocean Carrier by Alfred A
Underhill VGC ,large format,300 pages.
This is the second reprint of the 1946 first edition of this tremendous
book. It is extremely thorough, packed to the gunnels with hugely
detailed plans diagrams illustrations etc as well as a large fold out
giving the complete belaying pin layoutfor a full rigged ship. Text is
also massively detailed. It was sourced by the author from a number of
ancient sailing manuals on rigging and sailwork form the 1790s onwards.

Some headings:- Principles of rig & rigging / Masts & spars of Iron &
steel vessels / Masts & spars of wooden vessels / Standing rigging /
Sails / Coasters & small craft /Unusual rigs etc.

And for free from your local library - most of them can get books from
far away if they don't have them in their own collection.

It is not a bad book, as such, although its focus is on building
models, not rigging real ships.

The principles are there. You could interpret the tensions deemed
necessary for the real thing. How many masts do you have to rig before
leaving dock?
