Default Advice on lake/bay trailerable starter boat?

Hi,

I spent a week's vacation at J-World sailing school and have rented
a Flying Scot, Sunfish, and the like a few times but now I want to
get a boat so I can get on the water more often.

Since I live in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, and its at least
a three hour drive to the Bay, I decided I wanted to get something
(anything!) I could drop in the water quick at the nearby lakes.

I've got a $2000.00 budget and a pickup capable of pulling anything
in my price range.

The object is to get on the water and gain experience. I'm not
interested in racing. I like exploring so I'd have my eye on
a cruising boat in the future.

Any suggestions? (get more money isn't an option

thanks,
gary
