Default My mini-review of the new iPad...

Got to play with one at the local Apple store...

Very slick if you are a major league consumer of on-line media and
apps...which I am not.

Why? Does it take more intelligence than you have to operate it?

No, stupid...I am not a major league consuer of on-line media and
apps...and therefore I have no use for an iPad. It is certainly not a
replacement for a good laptop computer, which I happen to own.

I think they're totally cool. I think I'm going to get one for a b-day
present... don't want the 3G model, just wireless. I've already put in my
request for the max memory version.

They are very cool indeed, but I'm hard pressed to think of what I would
use one for. Hell, I don't even have an iphone...just a plain old cell
phone.

I would use it for movies and pictures. It has a microphone, so I think you
could use it with Skype... not sure about this.

Hadn't thought about that...but...since Apple is controlling the
"apps"for the device, and use of Skype would interfere with sales growth
of its iPhone, I wonder if and when it would be available. It definitely
is not a phone as delivered. The iPad does a very nice job with movies
and still photos...saw that demonstrated at the local apple store this
past saturday.

unnecessary war and you'll feel better about it.

Do you spend all of the time that you're out of your basement at the
Apple store in the mall?
